I saw DJ Muller from MemberClicks speak on KPIs (key performance indicators). In his session he stated that KPIs must be presented in real-time in order for them to really be adopted.
I think he’s almost right; KPIs need to be as close to real-time as feasible. In other words, if the KPIs are 24 hours out-of-date, that’s probably OK. If they are weeks old, not-so-much.
But here’s the thing. For most of the “typical” KPIs thatassociations are seeking (e.g., membership counts/renewals, event registration counts, fundraising revenue), your AMS should already provide you with that information, and in a dashboard format.
If you’re not able to get dashboards from your AMS, contact your vendor and find out if you can. Or contact me, and I can help you find a better AMS!
