Discipline. Always discipline.

Discipline. Always discipline.

I've been producing a newsletter in some form for over 25 years now. I've found that certain topics are evergreen; they come up all the time and I feel compelled to write about them again and again. One of those topics is discipline.

A quick search of my blog posts shows I've written explicitly about discipline nearly a half dozen times, and alluded to discipline almost another half dozen.

So what do I mean by discipline? I mean doing "the work" consistently, over time. For example, my most successful clients are those who consistently run data integrity reports, consistently hold internal users group meetings, and consistently review their business rules to make improvements.

They have the discipline to do the right things and to continue doing them over time.

Like the old adage says, it's simple but it isn't easy. Knowing what to do and actually applying that knowledge it hard work. It takes discipline. How is yours?
