Data Breach – Not if, but when

Many associations, because they are small and have relatively low volume on their e-commerce sites, believe they are not a target for hackers. I’ve been telling my clients for some time that a data breach in the association market is not a matter of if, but when.

The American Bankers Association recently revealed that their e-commerce site had been hacked, and some 6,400 usernames and passwords were stolen. ABA says no other information was taken. (Click here for more info.)

EVERY association should be aware of the vulnerabilities they have to being hacked. And every association should have a disaster recovery plan in place to deal with the inevitable. It’s not a matter of if, but when.
