I had the opportunity to attend the 10th Annual Avectra Users and Developers Conference in Orlando earlier this week. In this and three more blogs posts I’ll outline some of the interesting and pertinent things I learned there.
Abila acquisition of Avectra
The most important issue of the event was the recent acquisition of Avectra by Abila. In one of the first sessions of the conference, during the discussion of the roadmap for Avectra’s flagship Enterprise product, Erin Shy, Vice President – Product Management & Product Marketing, immediately addressed the rumors of the demise of the Enterprise product. In unequivocal terms, Shy explained that there were no plans for sun-setting netFORUM Enterprise. As this session was specifically about the Enterprise roadmap for the coming three years, it would seem a little odd to have a three-year roadmap for a product that is to be sun-setted.
In a later gathering of consultants, this issue was once again addressed by Krista Endsley, Abila’s CEO. Endsley reinforced the message that the Enterprise product will continue to be developed and supported. I think until we see specific evidence to the contrary, we can safely assume that rumors of netFORUM Enteprise’s demise are greatly exaggerated.
And speaking or roadmaps, my next blog post will focus on some of the new functionality scheduled for release in future versions of the netFORUM Enterprise and Pro products.
