Are you testing training effectiveness?

When you do training (you ARE doing training, right?) in your association management software system, are you testing for learning and effectiveness?

Too often training is completed and then forgotten. I recommend that as part of your periodic internal user group meetings, you do a check-in with staff to see if the training you’re providing is effective. Ask your staff the following:

  • Have they been been able to apply what they’ve learned?
  • Are there gaps in the training that is being provided?
  • Are we covering things in training that you don’t need?

These follow up questions shouldn’t come right at the end of training, but several weeks after, when learners have had an opportunity to actually use what they were trained on.
